The Wisconsin Rapids Chapter of the EAA will hold its December meeting on December 9 beginning at 7:00 PM. The meeeting is held in the airport's terminal building. Following a short business meeting WAHF's John Dorcey will present the Richard Bong Story.

Richard Bong grew up in Poplar, Wisconsin and decides to become a pilot during the summer of 1928. Hear what motivated him that summer and all the details of his military career in the South Pacific during World War II. The meeting is open to the public.

The chapter holds its regular meetings at its facility on the Batten International Airport, 3333 North Green Bay Road, on the third Thursday of every month. A social time begins at 6:30 PM and the meeting is called to order at 7:00 PM. The November meeting includes WAHF board member John Dorcey presenting the Richard Bong Story.

Bong took his first flight lesson on his 20th birthday and would become America's Ace of Aces in just over 4 years. Hear details of his military career and how he earned the Congressional Medal of Honor. The meeting is open to the public.

EAA Chapter 1365's monthly meeting for November will feature WAHF director Henry Peterson presenting the Richard Bong Story. The presentation will follow a brief business meeting which begins at 7:00 PM.

Members of Kettle Morraine Chapter (Chapter 1158) of the EAA will meet at their hangar on the West Bend Airport November19 for thir monthly meeting. The meeting begins at 7:00 PM. Following a short business meeting, WAHF director John Dorcey will share the Richard Bong Story.

The public is encouraged to join chapter members for this educational presentation. Fly-ins are encouraged.

The Aviation Heritage Center of Wisconsin regularly hosts presentations on aviation and aviation history. Join WAHF board member John Dorcey as he shares The Richard Bong Story. The presentation which is free and open to the public begins at 7:00 PM.

A social hour begins at 6:00 PM and a traditional sausage/wurst dinner will be served beginning at 6:30. Reservations are appreciated, please call 920-467-2043. The Aviation Heritage Center's museum includes many artifacts of the area's aviation history. Come early and tour the center's museum.

DeForest area residents are encouraged to attend the program, The Richard Bong Story, one of the library's multi-part salute to veterans. Held in the Community Room, the program will begin at 6:00 PM. WAHF member Tom Thomas (USAF, ret) of Madison is the featured speaker. The presentation is free and open to the public.

As part of its veteran's recognition effort, the Adams County Historical Society presents the "Richard Bong Story". The event will be held at the society's history center. Richard "Dick" Bong grew up in Poplar, Wisconsin, after becoming a pilot in the US Army Air Force, he went on to earn the title America's Ace of Aces.

Join WAHF member Tom Thomas as he shares the details of the young aviator, his time in the South Pacific and his being awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. The presentation begins at 2:00 PM and is free and open to the public.

Wisconsin Aviation Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
EAA AirVenture Museum

Join us as we honor six Wisconsin aviation notables as they are inducted into the Wisconsin Aviation Hall of Fame. This year Pete Drahn, James H. Flatley Jr., Donald Voland and James, Ed and Ray Knaup will be honored. Learn more about these aviators here.

Multiple events throughout the afternoon lead up to the 29th annual banquet and ceremony. The organization's annual membership meeting begins at 1:00 PM in the Batten Board Room located in the museum's lower level. The board of directors will hold its annual meeting, also in the Batten Board Room, immediately following the membership meeting. The EAA AirVenture Museum is available for visiting anytime throughout the afternoon. A silent auction in support of WAHF's outreach programs begins at 5:00 PM in the museum's Founder's Wing. A social hour, also in the Founder's Wing, runs concurrent with the auction. Dinner begins promptly at 6:00 PM with the ceremony following at 7:00.

Folks in Michigan's Upper Peninsula want to hear the Richard Bong story and have asked WAHF to visit the Ontonagon County Historical Society. Dinner at the Algomah Honey House will be followed by the presentation. In addition to the evening program, WAHF members Rose and John Dorcey will also share the Bong story with middle and high school students at the Ontonagon Area School. The Waukesha County Museum invites you to attend its Lunch and Learn Program Series to hear WAHF's John Dorcey present the Richard Bong story. Visit the museum the second Wednesday of every month for lunch and a presentation with themes ranging from World War II to music to photography and more! Each program lasts from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

The center of the Evansville community is Creekside Place. Their rich and varied schedule of programs include the Richard Bong Story. WAHF member Tom Thomas (LtCol, ret) will share Bong's story as only an Air Force pilot can. The presentation, which will last about an hour, includes time for questions. The program is free and open to the public.

The Wisconsin Aviation Hall of Fame will join more than 40 other exhibitors and nearly 225 participants at the 59th annual Wisconsin Aviation Conference. WAHF's Bong Anniversary Tour will kickoff during the conference. Five of WAHF's directors will be attending the conference to answer questions about the tour and arrange for tour stops at your location. WAHF member John Dorcey will present the Richard Bong Story during the conference banquet on Tuesday evening.

Individuals wishing to make a nomination must be a member of the organization. We ask that you provide as much material as possible so that we may give due consideration to your nominee.
