Bong Anniversary Tour
WAHF is taking the Richard Bong story on tour. The tour will celebrate the 70th anniversary of Bong receiving the Congressional Medal of Honor (MOH), it will celebrate the life of one of Wisconsin's many heroes from World War II.
History has a way of slipping away from us, 70 years is, after all, a long time. Join us as we journey with Dick Bong from Poplar, Wisconsin, to flight training in California and Arizona. Then further west still to the jungles of the Southwest Pacific. We'll return home a little more than two years later with the MOH and the moniker America's Ace of Aces. Join us in celebrating the life of Richard Ira Bong.

It is appropriate that our tour begins in Wausau at the Wisconsin Aviation Conference. It was almost exactly 73 years ago, May 29, 1941, when 20-year-old Dick travelled to Wausau to enter the Army as an Aviation Cadet.
We invite you to join us to hear the Bong story, learn about the Lockheed
P-38 Lighting and discover why he was recommended for the Medal of Honor.
Tour stops are being scheduled across Wisconsin. Bong Anniversary Tour stops are listed on the events page in blue. Schedule a tour stop in your area by contacting us via email or by phone at 920-385-1483.
