Launched in 2002, WAHF's scholarship program is an important part of the organization's mission. The Carl Guell Memorial award is named in honor of our founder and was the first of the four awards presented annually. Each award is based on the applicant's meeting of required scholastic standards and activity in community and extracurricular activities.
Applicants must be Wisconsin residents who are full-time, continuing students, in a technical school or college/university program related to aviation or aerospace.
The Thiessen Field Aviation Scholarship award is named in honor of Jerome Thiessen. Mr. Thiessen was a pilot, aircraft mechanic, and airplane builder who believed in supporting students with a passion for aviation. Thiessen's award is without academic requirement and began in 2005.
Two additional awards were introduced in 2013 - the EAA Chapter 640/Robert Payzer Memorial award and the Jeff Baum Aviation Management award. The Baum award is, as its name implies for students in aviation management or related programs.
The WAHF scholarship program is managed by the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin. For additional information about the program or make tax deductible contributions visit their website. Application process is online, visit here to begin the process.
